Jody
Gray was Cartoon Network's first and only choice to compose, orchestrate
and conduct "Stalling-esque" opening and closing themes
for its new anthology series, "The Chuck Jones Show."
"It was
a dream assignment," said Gray, "and more than a bit tricky.
Stalling is an icon and his work had a HUGE impact on me and my
generation. I had to create original music that was totally my own
yet was firmly rooted in Carl Stalling¹s classic WB scores.
The object was to drag the 'soul' of the style into the 21st Century."
The brilliant
final result features: 8 violins, 2 violas, celli, bass, trombone,
tuba, banjo, accordion, xylophone, flute, Bb clarinet, percussion,
yodeler, industrial/techno loops and analog synths.
Music Supervisor
and Sound Designer, Michael C. Lau was on board to handle SFX
and music coordination duties.
